~CHECK THIS OUT~

Lindsay just updated her blog with the cutest post about my adorable grandson! You have got to go and check it out at: http://lifeofthebennetts.blogspot.com/ (Naughty, Naughty Boy!!)

4 WHEELIN'

Logan loves to go for rides on Grandpa Mac's 4-Wheeler bike. He acts like such a big boy when he get on it. He puts the key in the ignition and holds onto the handles just like he knows what he's doing.

They are pretty darn cute together. It's so funny to see Logan's face when they come back from riding. He just loves it and could be on the bike all day. Life is too fun with this little guy around.

"RUFF HOUSIN'"

I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET SOME VIDEO OF THE DOGS PLAYING TOGETHER AND I WAS FINALLY SUCCESSFUL TODAY! IT'S BEEN AMAZING TO WATCH BAXTER LEARN HOW TO PLAY WITH SUCH A TINY PUPPY. HE FINALLY FIGURED OUT THAT HE HAS TO GET RIGHT DOWN ON BRINKLEY'S LEVEL. HE'S SO PATIENT WITH HIM TOO. WHAT GOOD PUPS! I THINK THEY MIGHT EVEN BE FRIENDS!

Oh Brother!!!

Tomorrow is my brother, Chet's, birthday. In fact, everyone is together tonight having dinner to celebrate. I wish I could be there. Not just because they're at Boston's (yum, yum!) but because it would be great to let him know in person how much I love him and how grateful I am that he's my brother. It isn't always easy for siblings to get along and it's taken us some time to come to appreciate and accept each other and our differences. Chet is a wonderful guy. He's about the best mailman ever!
He has the greatest stories about his mail route. He cracks us up when he gets talking about his job. He's very kind and concerned about the people on his route, too. They in turn love him. Chet has been so good to my dad since our mom passed away a year ago. He calls dad every single day on his lunch break. He takes dad out for breakfast and comes over all the time to help out with things around the house. In fact, one time, in the fall before the snow hit, we were eating breakfast at dad's house and dad kept saying Chet was supposed to come over. We finished eating and I looked outside and Chet was in the yard clearing the flower beds and preparing them for winter. Turns out he'd been out there for over an hour working and none of us knew it. That's just how he is. He's a wonderful grandfather to his 4 grandkids. He loves his 2 dogs and working in his garden, which seems strange to me since he hated doing yard work as a kid, but he does a beautiful job with his yard and grows some amazing flowers.
Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHET!!!
I love you tons.

And the diagonsis is . . .

Yep, I'm gonna live! I know, I'm such a baby. I did end up going to the doctor today and had a very wonderful PA-C check me out. She was so sweet and really took her time with me. She diagnosed me with INFLUENZA. Surprise, surprise, it's a virus. I pretty much knew it would be but I just needed to know what to do to feel better. She gave a prescription for cough medicine with codeine in it. Can anyone say LALA Land!?! Oh yeah! Good stuff. She also had me pick up some Mucinex D to help break up all the yuck in my chest. And, she
gave me a work release note for today and tomorrow. That probably wasn't totally necessary since I have a wonderful, understanding boss.
Anyway, I've spent the day laying in bed, catching up on my rest and trying to drink a lot of water. I'm sure that I'll be just fine in no time! I'm very blessed with an good husband who does a terrific job of taking care of me and a lot of the other things that get ignored while I'm in bed. Thank heavens for modern medicine is all I can say!!!!

"NyQuil ~ take me away!!!"

Okay, so here it is, ummm . . . coming up on 3:00 AM and I can't sleep. Why? Well, what started out as a little cough 3 days ago is now a full blown cold/flu. Cough, incredibly sore throat, stuffy/runny nose (never understood how it can be both at the same time) pounding head and achy ears. Not sure if there is a fever at this point. I don't even own a thermometer. I just want to curl up in a ball and sleep, sleep, sleep until all of this is gone. Brein & Ben offered to go get me some NyQuil last night before I went to bed and I turned them down. I could sure go for some right now! Guess I'll be calling the doctor in the morning.

Faith & Miracles

As each of us go along in life we all too often hit those "bumps" in the road. The past two days have certainly been bumpy for our family. As many of you know, Lindsay and David recently found out that they were expecting a new addition to their family. It was something of a shock for them to say the least. Like all good and loving people, they pondered on it, accepted it and then set their minds to getting excited about this unexpected new addition and blessing to their little family. And get excited they did! Of course there was apprehension and all of the usual wondering how it would all work out but they were moving forward with faith that this was the plan for them.

They were anxious to finally go to the doctor and hear the heartbeat and have that reassurance that all was well. Sadly, that was not the news that they got. I will forever remember holding Lindsay in my arms as we cried together over the loss of that baby. This whole experience has been such a rollercoaster of emotions for Lindsay and David. But, as I have watched them the past two days I have seen miracles already happening in their life. I'm so proud of them and impressed with the way they have handled themselves in their crisis. They have been sad but positive. They have reassured others when their hearts are breaking in two. They have clung to each other and cared for one another. I know that through this experience they will be stronger as individuals and as a couple. They have turned their hearts to the Lord to begin the healing process. My most favorite scripture is found in Isaiah 41:10:

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. "

Lindsay & David, continue to move forward in faith and miracles will follow. Know that your Heavenly Father loves you and is watching over you and has a plan for you and your family. He will strengthen you as you put your trust in Him.

Today, Logan David Bennett is 15 months old. I can't believe how fast time has gone by!!! It's crazy! Anyway, I've taken a some pictures of him over the past 14 months and I thought I would share a few (and I do mean a few) of them with you. It's amazing to see the growth and change in him over the months.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Wishing all of my dear family, friends and loved ones a wonderful Valentine's day. I'm so blessed to be surrounded by awesome people who love and support me and I want you all to know how grateful I am for each of you. I love you!

{LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!}

Brinkely is finally here! We brought him home today and he's sitting right next to me. I was so dang excited on the drive there! I could hardly wait to pick him up. He did pretty good on the drive home. We stopped at the pet store and bought the food he's been eating. Everyone in the store was in love with him. The closer we got to home the more he cried.
Once we got home we took him out in the backyard where Baxter was. I was really nervous about how the two dogs would handle each other. It's funny because Brinkley . . .

wasn't afraid of Baxter at all but Baxter was so scared (and still is) of Brinkley. I was really surprised by Baxter's reaction to the new puppy. It's not like he's been an only dog forever. Hopefully, it won't him take too long to get used to having another dog around. Once we were outside the puppy did both his "duties" right away. He's such a good dog already! We brought him in the house and he drank some water and he's been chilling in his bed ever since.

I have to say that I really do have the best husband int he world to tolerate me and all my little quirks, like needing to have a small adorable puppy like this. He's so good to me and I really do love him and appreciate putting up with me! Happy Valentine's Day, Honeypooh!

MR. GRUMPY!

Last night while we were eating dinner Mr. Grumpy decided

to join us. The more he cried the more we laughed because

his cry was so forced. I took the video of him and then showed

it to him and he was so sad for the baby in the camera. He

tried kissing the camera to make the sad baby better. It was

so sweet! In all fairness, Logan has been sick with a yucky

nose, a cough and a fever. The only nice thing about Logan

being sick is that he will sit on my lap for long periods of time

and let me love him. He's such a sweet boy and even when he's

sick he is so good and mostly happy.

You learn something new everyday . . .

As I've been snooping on blogs, I've been so impressed with how creative people are with the color and patterns of their blogs. Mine has been plain jane white. Boring! Well, tonight I learned how to change mine and I actually did it! I'm pretty darn impressed with myself! I've always considered myself somewhat of a "techno-retard". But, tonight I've proven anyone, and I mean anyone can learn. Okay, except, there was one casualty. I lost my "puppy name poll" in the transition. I had 11 people that voted on this very important issue. And the winner is . . .
Brinkley!!!
That was my favorite, too. Tomorrow, Brad and I are going to visit the little guy and we'll see if he still looks like a Brinkley. He should be coming home with us on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm so excited.
Here is the link to the cute blog creations if you are brave enough to try it. Come on, give it a try! http://www.matiekay.blogspot.com/

I've been tagged . . .

I've been tagged by Abby, and here is how this one works.

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player answers the question about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 other people and posts there names. And then leaves a message on their blog letting them know they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog to get the directions.

What I was doing 10 years ago. . .
Wow! I was living in Utah, raising 3 kids who would have been, let me think . . . 12, 10, and 8. I was the "carpool queen" running kids to and from school, TaVaCi, piano, and who knows what other sports and activities they were involved in at the time. Actually, it was a busy but wonderful time of my life. I loved it!

5 Things on my "To-Do" list today. . .
1. Work . . . Check
2. Tend Logan . . . check.
3. Fix spaghetti for dinner . . . check.
4. Mop floors . . . check.
5. Get temple recommend interview with the stake. . . check!!!
Yeah, now I can collapse!

3 Bad habits I have. . .
1. Hmmm. . . spending way too much time on the computer (teeheehee!)
2. Too much Diet Coke.
3. Not keeping in touch with people I love.

Places I have lived...
Utah
Idaho
Texas
Arizona

Things most people don't know about me...
I can touch my tongue to my nose.
I am a "Bewitched" fanatic.
I got a "D" in homemaking in high school.
I'm deathly afraid of thunder & lightening.
I love hot fudge sundae's with an obscene amount of hot fudge on it!
I randomly scream out in my sleep.
I absolutely DREAD becoming an "empty nester"!!!!!!!

Okay . . . I tag . . . Lindsay, Lorie, Megan, Wendy & Jody

Lucky Me!

I just laid Logan down for his afternoon nap and as I did he smiled up at me and giggled a little bit. He just makes my heart happy! I feel so blessed to be his Grandma!! Since the day he was born that boy has wrapped himself around my heart and refuses to let go.

I have to say that I'm pretty happy to have him in my life. We've spent a lot of time together, him and I in the last 14 months and I can truly say that I've loved every single minute of it. It's amazing to watch him grow and learn and change from a little baby into a "big boy".

It seems like everyday with him is an adventure. What new word will he say? What facial expression will crack me up and how many times will he give me kisses? I am truly lucky to have Logan in my life and I thank Heavenly Father each day for this blessing.

Love you, sweet boy!

I Voted!

I voted today! I took part in the democratic process and did my civic duty. I went when I thought it would be the quickest and shortest lines but the place was busy! I stood in line with Brad and Logan for nearly a half hour (Logan kept everyone entertained) and then, just when we thought we could get in, vote and get out, they failed to have our names on the list and we had to go stand in another line and fill out some forms. We were told it was a "computer glitch". Anyway, it all worked out and I did vote and now I can proudly wear my "I Voted" sticker. I'm not sure that my vote makes a very big difference in who will win but I do know that I love this country and the freedoms we enjoy. I give thanks for the many men and women and children that have sacrificed so much so that we can live in this great nation that God has given us.

Puppy Love

Guess what my sweetie is getting me for Valentine's Day??? A new puppy!! I'm so excited. Some of you may know that our sweet Butch died a couple of months ago from old age. It was a sad time for our family. After 14 years with us he truly was a member of our family. Baxter just hasn't been the same since and we feel like he needs a new friend. Okay, I'll admit it . . . that's not the only reason we're getting a new puppy. We are dog people! We've had at least one dog ever since Brein was a year old. It just seems easier to have two happy dogs than one lonely one. So, here is the newest addition: He's such a little cutie! We will be bringing him home just before Valentine's Day. The problem is we don't know what to name him. Please make sure to place your vote for one of our top 4 favorite names. It has to be a "B" name. We've had Buster, Butch & Baxter. Anyway, Happy Valentine's Day to me!!!

Man of Miracles

I was so touched and moved today by the funeral of our dear prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. I watched a bit of coverage on BYUTV before the funeral. They replayed a talk he gave at general conference in April of 2006. In that talk he bore the most beautiful testimony. I'm sure at the time I appreciated it but now that he's gone I was so inspired by it. I could hardly control my emotions. I don't know how anyone can doubt that he was a prophet of God and that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ when they listen to President Hinckley bear his witness of the truth. The funeral was a wonderful rememberance of him, his life and his devotion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Everything he did was for his love of the Savior: All of the temples, all of the miles he travelled and the endless hours of service he so willingly gave. He was an incredible and beautiful man in life and even though he's gone he will continue to touch lives all over this world. He was truly "a giant among men" and a "man of miracles".

A little pampering goes a long way . . .

It's been kind of a rough week so when my BFF Kelsy called to say she was coming over to visit I was thrilled. I was even more excited when she suggested we go get our toes done. Now, if you have never had a pedicure you are totally missing out! Oh my gosh! It's the best! I was so in need of one too. We had a great time sitting in the massage chair, drinking our favorite beverage, and enjoying great conversation and a little pampering (we especially enjoyed the hot rock massage). Life just seems so much better when you have pretty toes and happy feet!
