My two men . . . Brad and Kip, are addicted to the food network.
I thought they were just addicted to food but they both LOVE to watch this channel. In fact, Kip was so upset yesterday because Brad had erased a program after watching it and Kip hadn't been able to watch the whole thing yet. Crazy boys! Anyway, they both told me the other day something that they had learned and I wish I had known about this years ago. Instead of frying bacon on the stove top and making a big greasy mess -
- bake it in the oven at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Easy Peasy! So, I tried it today when I was making my quiche for dinner. It was so slick I couldn't believe it and the bacon came out restuarant perfect. Okay, so maybe I'm way behind the times and you are all going, "Well, Duh!" But I just thought I would share this new found discovery with everyone and say a great big thanks to the Emeril Lagasse's living in my home! Thank You!!!

It must run in the family because I seriously love the Food Network. I wish I loved different types of food more.
Kip should go to culinary school and do something with his life! ;)
I saw it on John and Kate Plus 8 just the other day but having tried it. so cool!
i saw it on jon and kate plus 8 the other day also! i've never tried it though. but i will, geoff hates bacon so i never saw a point in making a big greasy mess just for me to have a few pieces of bacon but now....i will try it! (thanks for clogging my arteries!)
I learned this on the food network myself (about a year ago) and I like you felt that I had to share this information. It was pre-blog for me, so I did the next best thing: I sent out an email. It is the greatest thing. Who knew?
Gonna do that next time. Besides it doesn't make your house as smokey or stinky. Well bacon really NEVER stinks but you know what I mean.
You'll have to share more of these tips with me because...we don't get the Food Network! Shocking, I know. We cooked a pound of bacon over the coals this morning several different ways, even on sticks. I will definitely have to try the oven method...do you cover it with anything?
Just bake it at 450 for 15 minutes on a cookie sheet that has sides to contain the grease. I didn't cover mine. No splaters in the over so far. Kip cooked some today for a sandwich and it was perfect.
Like brother like brother...or something like that. We have to record almost all the Food Network shows. So funny! Good thing Shane's the chef in the family...I'll stick to such wonderful shows as Word World and Diego!
