BUSY WEEKENDS PART 2 . . .

This past weekend we met Brad's parents and his brother Shane and his wife Dawn in Moab for a 4 wheeling trip. We had a great time together except for when Dixie, Brad's mom, had a bit of an accident and got hurt. We aren't really sure how it happened but the bike fell on top of her and the handle bar smashed into her chest and her lung started to collapse. I don't know why she wanted to know just how heavy a 4 wheeler is when it is laying on top of you but now she knows! She was pretty bruised up and sore but she will be fine. Clive and Dixie ended up going home on Saturday so that she could get some rest and heal. Like the supportive family that we are the rest of us stayed behind to see what other kind of damage we could create. On Friday, Brad and Shane had a great time putting Dawn and I through the wildest 4 wheeling course I could have imagined. They quickly gained a lot of confidence in our off-roading abilities and pushed us even more. This hill was our first major challenge. The boys were good to help us get down it safely. We felt extremely proud of our accomplishment. Dawn did much better than I did since I accidentally hit the throttle as I was going down and because Brad was holding onto my bike to steady it he got drug down the hill behind me. Not much harm done, thank goodness!!!
Brad and his biker woman!

We saw this beautiful canyon on that ride. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking in Moab. Mostly I was just grateful to be alive! This is another huge hill that I was able to conquer. It was steep!!! I would just hit the throttle and pray like crazy that I didn't get bucked off before I reached the top! At the end of the day I couldn't believe how sore I was. Of course, part of that was when I really did get bucked off the bike and nearly crushed by it. It's okay, I'm fine . . . just a few bruises but I've had worse.

On Saturday, our Fearless Foursome took a ride up to Gemini Bridges which is twin arches. That was a wonderful, less challenging ride. I loved being up on the arches looking down to the bottom of the canyon which was probably 600 feet down. Then we drove down to the bottom and looked up to where we had just been. Amazing!!!

Here we are sitting next to a plaque that is a memorial for a guy that drove his jeep off one of the arches into the bottom of the canyon several years back. YIKES!!!

Looking down to the highway below us.

For years Brad has been telling me about this canyon in another area that they named "Dead Cow Canyon" because they found a dead cow at the bottom of it. It has slipped on the rocks and fell to it's death. Jeeps and bikes go there and drive down in to the bottom of the canyon and back out again. I think it has something to do with having too much testosterone in your system! Anyway, I have now seen Dead Cow Canyon for myself! Here is video of Shane driving down into it and then back out of it. All I can say is "CRAZY FOOL"!!!
