BUSY WEEKENDS PART 1 . . .

Brad and I have had the chance to get out of town the last couple of weekends. It started 2 weeks ago when we went to Albuquerque, NM. Brad works there a couple a days a month and it just happened to be the annual Balloon Fiesta going on there. I flew down on the Friday and met Brad for a fun weekend away. The balloons fly everyday for about 9 or 10 days in a row but the day I got there the wind had been bad and a balloon had actually flown into a power line and someone was killed. After that the weather really got bad and well, needless to say I never personally saw a balloon fly. Friday evening we sat at the park hoping that the balloons would fly and saw this amazingly beautiful sunset. But, the balloons didn't fly. We hoped for better things on Saturday morning.
Saturday morning we woke up early and watched the news and found out that the balloons wouldn't be flying - again : ( So . . . we took the opportunity to drive to Santa Fe and check out the shops and food. We had breakfast before we left at a very authentic mexican restaurant and the food was way yummy!
We had a great time in Santa Fe. There are a ton of shops with arts and crafts and we toured an old, old church and ate some yummy food.

Brad making a pig or an ass of himself! j/k

The atmosphere in Sante Fe was so fun and there were a ton of people walking around. The weather seemed wonderful until we were in a little shop eating lunch and the sky just opened up and this is what happened:

I know that I'm a nerd for taking video of a storm but hey, that just never happens in Arizona!
On Sunday we woke up and once again checked the news and found out that the balloons would be flying but when we got to the park the winds got worse and they cancelled the flights. I was so sad! There was one guy there that took pity on the crowd and blew up his balloon for the crowd. He didn't have it fly but it was amazing just to see how huge it was. I hope that I can go next year so I can experience seeing hundreds of balloons in the air at one time.

We had some time to kill before we headed to the airport to come home so we drove up to the temple and took some pictures. It's a beautiful temple and now I can add that to my list of temples I've seen around the world!
Even though I didn't get to see the Balloon Fiesta in all its glory it was so much fun to have a nice relaxing weekend with my honey! He's so good to me and we truly treasure the time we have together. Thanks babe!!!

What a great, little getaway! Only in my dreams, though. My sis was there too but they were there when the balloons were flying. They said it was incredible! Hope you can make it next year.
